A ‘bit’ of RuPaul Wisdom

The Star of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” not only has a trending show but also has an inspirational podcast that recently blew my mind! RuPaul’s iHeart radio show “What’s the Tee with Michele Visage” offered amazing insight during their “It Gets Butter with Latrice Royale” episode.  Latrice Royale courageously shared her dark personal trials with RuPaul and Michele in the second half of the cast.  But before listening to this heartfelt interview, my ears basked in the glowing sage wisdom of the Queen of All Drag queens! Many don’t realize that behind all the makeup and glamour of the Legendary RuPaul, is a highly evolved human being who is as wise as she is graceful!

Ru described her life philosophy being akin to the Matrix Movie! A concept where our world is an illusion and our brains are wired to interpret these projections as “reality”. We are liken to actors on a stage; immersed so deeply in the story line plot and surrendering our “True Self” to the “role” we are playing. We can’t snap out of the character we adopted because it becomes a comfortable facade. I know we all heard of Shakespeare’s “All the World is a Stage” but what I found enlightening about Ru’s message is: even if you do feel stuck in a situation with something or someone, the “plot” of the story always changes!

Some Tee for You!

Listening to this stream struck a painful chord in me because it took me back to the time when I felt stuck in the “role” I had played for many years of working in retail. As a teen I took on many department store associate positions which eventually lead me to a stable job as a grocery store cashier.  I was good at what I did, loved providing good customer service, and often received high praise from my managers. But despite the comfort of routine employment, I was confined by the limitation of feeling so far from my passions. What brought me down was that no one could even see my purpose at the time, since I seemed content with my job and the life it afforded me.  I allowed my desire to expand my mind to help me break out of this comfortable role I was playing. That is when I began to see my life beyond the “Matrix of my everyday world” and knew there was a higher purpose to serving others as a customer service and sales person.

So I took a quantum leap forward and decided to become a conscious creator of my reality! I decided to step outside my comfort zone and one day quit my secure job and start my own business! I had no idea what I was doing at the time, but I took a leap of faith. Meeting new people, reading books and listening to others who were highly successful inspired me to see beyond my reality by seeing theirs! I never imagined myself being my own boss. Even though I am not where I want to be, I consider myself successful for not giving up. I have perseverance which is the quality that every successful person possesses.

Be an Agent of Change

I firmly believe you are the agent or factor that determines where change takes you. The present is the product of past actions. Even if you feel like you are repeating the same mistakes or patterns, where your life goes is entirely up to you! You hold the power to change any condition in your life, including the “plot” of your story. By simply choosing to see things in a different light or for many of us, seeing things in the light for the very first time, you can steer change to where you want it to go. The truth is that change is inevitable. How you change with these tides becomes the magic of your own creation. So life really DOES get better or in Ru’s words “it gets Butter!”

Sip…Sip…that was some delicious Tee!
